Hello! I’m Jocelyn

I’m a science-loving mom, wife, health care worker, nature-seeker, and movement enthusiast with an insatiable interest in all things related to health & wellness!

I blend my expertise as a scientist, nutrition coach, yoga teacher, and personal trainer, as well as a decade of personal experience recovering from my own digestive troubles and hormonal imbalances, in order to work with other women to design their custom blueprint to lasting weight loss and wellness at midlife and beyond!

I offer a multilayered approach to women’s wellness, including a blend of nutrition coaching, stress rebalancing, and fitness training. My coaching in these areas  is unique because I emphasize the importance of mindset, metabolism and trackable health markers.

I know first-hand and through coaching my clients that this combination can have profound effects on your mind, body and energy!

I also understand that our super-busy lives are overfilled with the demands of family, career and community.

You end up:

  • constantly stressed and ruled by never-ending to-do lists
  • hurrying from one task to the next
  • collapsing into bed each night feeling tired but wired
  • worrying that you didn’t get enough done
  • promising yourself that tomorrow you will ‘do better’

Your desire to nurture and care for others pushes your own well-being to the very bottom of the priority list.  By doing this, you allow all of these pressures to build up and your overall health and energy tank.

  • you forget what it feels like to get a restful night’s sleep
  • you never set aside time to balance your stress levels 
  • you stop providing the nourishment your body needs in the forms of  food and movement.  

Over time you get stuck in a vicious cycle!  You end up feeling fatigued, frazzled, fat and foggy!  I get it . . .  I have been there. And it sucks.

And when you reach this point you can bet that your hormones and mindset are working against you!

But I want you to be hopeful that there can be a very different outcome and that you don’t have to figure this out on your own!

I’m here to support you as you work with your body to create a beautiful balance, so that you feel more like yourself again and rediscover your special spark for life!

Why Women’s Wellness Over 40?

I specialize in supporting midlife women that feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and overweight, but my passion is to help woman over 40 rediscover a joyful, healthy and MAGICAL life.

Why am I so enthusiastic about nutrition, fitness and healthy lifestyle choices?

Because I was once in your shoes!

During the previous 12 years I have experienced:

  • brain fog that has affected my job performance
  • emotional eating habits
  • sleep disturbances
  • the inability to lose undesirable weight and fat
  • crippling anxiety and panic attacks
  • times when I felt like someone had drained every last drop of energy from my body
  • frustration and isolation… it seemed as if I had no where to turn for answers, support or guidance!

But not anymore!

I put my science and research background to use and read books, talked to experts, dug into the most recent scientific literature and experimented with food, stress management techniques, supplements, and exercise.

Once I figured out where and how to prioritize my  wellness strategies, I noticed the pounds coming off and improvements in all areas of my life.

That’s when I knew I was on to something.

Now I guide other women 40+ that feel lost and overwhelmed when it comes to wellness and fitness to take the necessary steps to reclaim their fun-loving and spirited selves again.

This path is unique to each client and is based on her personal goals. It focuses on a whole-body approach and making lifestyle decisions based on feedback from your own body (including lab work, objective, and subjective measures).

 

This puts the power back into your own hands and allows you to be the one in charge of your own health outcomes.

The most important lesson I realized along my long journey was that I had to stop battling against my body and start tuning in to what it desperately needed in order to feel fabulous again.

And that is why I do what I do!

I don’t want you to feel trapped in a body you no longer recognize, suffer with unwanted weight gain and wake up feeling miserable and overwhelmed any longer.

I want you to live your most VIBRANT life during midlife and beyond!

Yoga Background

My yoga practice spans 13 years, and includes styles such as Hatha, vinyasa, gentle, and anatomy-based. I graduated from the Himalayan Institute in Buffalo, N.Y. as a 200 hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) in May of 2018. 

Completed trainings:

  • CPR/AED 
  • Yoga for digestive health
  • Yoga for hip therapeutics
  • Yoga for sciatic pain

I earned my Yoga Trapeze® certification in July, 2019. laughing

Wellness Training

It is a priority of mine to continually learn and deepen my knowledge of fitness/wellness/nutrition to better serve my students:

  • Certified nutrition coach February 2020
  • Certified personal trainer June 2020
  • Functional Nutrition and Metabolism Science Specialist
  • In trining to become a certified HeartMath Provider (for stress management techniques)

I also earned my black belt in karate and have trained in judo.

Science has always been a love of mine. My science education includes a substantial background in anatomy and physiology and microbiology.

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology (1995, 2004)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (2012)
  • Employed as Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Buffalo, N.Y.

 It is my goal to bring the teachings of yoga and my committment to wellnss with me into all areas of my life, whether it is having fun with my family, practicing martial arts, or spending time with the pups I meet as a pet care provider.
